Amazon Drone Delivery System – 30 Minute Deliveries
Amazon has just announced their upcoming Prime Air courier option and posted a video on Youtube showing it in action. Essentially Prime Air is a small helicopter like drone that carries the package from a Amazon warehouse directly to the buyer. In the video the option promises a 30 minute delivery and after the option is selected the purchased item is sealed in a hard plastic container and picked up at the end of a conveyor belt by the Amazon drone.
Once the drone has the package it simply takes off and heads to its destination. Of course, Prime Air is still a good 4 or 5 years off according to Amazon, most likely more, but a statement posted on their site read; “One day, Prime Air vehicles will be as normal as seeing mail trucks on the road today.”
I can just smell another data collection scandal coming, similar to the Google Street car data collection.
