Dogecoin Community Springs into Action to get Indian Luger to the Winter Olympics
When India’s most prominent Winter Olympics athlete Shiva Keshavan, was told he couldn’t compete in the games the Dogecoin community rallied and took action.
The issue for the luger was that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended the Indian Olympic Association a year ago for violations of its charter, including electing leaders with pending criminal charges. This means athletes from India can compete, but they have to do so as an independent athlete and not as a representative of their country.
Hearing this Dogecoin community posted on Reddit a plea to get the luger to the Olympics;
“Olympic luge contender from India is hoping for a miracle to happen to help him realize his dreams. Do we know anybody with that power?”
In just 20 hours over $6,149 worth of coins we sent in to the cause, beating their goal of $4,221. What put them over the top so fast was a mystery donor that sent in 3,000,000 coins to help the donation crush through this in record time and send Shiva Keshavan, to the Winter Olympics.
